Give your child the gift of music
Individual violin lessons by webcam mean that you can give your child the gift of music even if you don't have a teacher nearby.
Lesson timing is flexible, practice can be playful, and progress happens at your child’s pace — developing their skill and self-confidence.
Who am I?
Hello, I’m Katie Dey, a qualified Suzuki violin and piano teacher with over 30 years of experience helping kids learn music — and helping their parents feel confident guiding them. I specialise in supporting online students worldwide, and I also teach in-person from my home studio near Motueka, New Zealand.
Learning an instrument takes regular practice — and with the Suzuki method, your role as the home helper is a big part of that journey. I know family life is busy, and finding time can feel like a challenge, but you won’t be on your own. I’m here to help you create a routine and use efficient practice strategies that make steady progress feel doable — even when life is already full.
How Do the Online Suzuki Violin Lessons Work?
Lessons are booked through the online calendar, which can show times in your local timezone. You choose a slot, book, and pay right there. Timing is flexible. You can book the same time each week but you don't have to.
During each webcam lesson, I guide you and your child through the Suzuki Violin pieces step by step. Between lessons, you’ll practice together at home and use the pre-recorded video lessons to check how the pieces go and to make sure new skills are learned correctly from the start.
You’ll also have access to a Parent Support Page, with tips for making practice fun and manageable. And whenever you’d like, you can book a free webchat to talk through practice challenges or answer any questions.
Payment & Flexibility
There are two parts to payment:
A monthly subscription, which gives you access to all the pre-recorded lessons and the online booking calendar.
A lesson fee, paid when you book individual lessons.
Your Role as Parent
While your child will be the one learning violin, your involvement is essential—and you don’t need any musical background to do it. I’ll guide and support both of you, with a focus on making lessons and practice enjoyable, rewarding and achievable.
What is the Suzuki Method?
The Suzuki Method teaches music the way children learn language—through the “mother‑tongue” approach.
• Play by ear first, read later. Kids are great at copying so we start with this to build strong aural skills and musical memory from day one.
• Parent + child partnership: your daily involvement is the secret to steady progress; I’ll guide you so you never feel lost.
• Whole‑person learning: through these music lessons, your child will learn more than just the notes. They’ll develop life skills like concentration and confidence in addition to refining their posture, tone and musicality.
• Global community: connect with Suzuki institutes and events worldwide, sharing a common musical repertoire.
Money-back guarantee
Every child (and every family) learns differently, and it’s important that the lessons feel truly valuable for you. If at any point you feel you’re not getting the benefit you hoped for, just let me know. I’ll refund your most recent subscription payment as well as any lessons you’ve booked but not yet used—no questions asked.
Your family’s satisfaction and my peace of mind are my top priority.
